Bird of Paradise Pastel Demonstration

I start out with a vine charcoal outline to establish the desired composition.

Next, I fill in blocks of local color. I define the edges of the flower and start to model lights and darks.

At this stage, I add more layers of color to further define the flower. I concentrate on color and enhancing the three-dimensional form.

Finally, I add the details, correct any over-blending, and emphasize shadows and texture.
